Our sintered porous metal components can be used as filters in many filtration applications, flow control, aeration, chromatography frits, breathers, venting, applicators, instrument filters, sensor protectors, and fuel cell components. Secondary operations for building custom-engineered assemblies include state-of-the-art machining, laser cutting, and electron beam welding techniques.

Along with supplying standard component shapes, our team can work with your engineers to incorporate our media into complete custom-engineered assemblies. Through extensive secondary capabilities and the use of technologies such as laser cutting and electron beam welding, we produce a wide range of custom and OEM assemblies, providing total solutions to many different industries.

Porous Metal Components

Porous Metal Components are the simple shapes that are commonly made from the metal powder. In many applications, the media is utilized in these shapes without any further processing. Typical component shapes that can be pressed from powder include:

  • Discs – available in diameters as small as .020 inch to over 5 inches
  • Cups and Bushings – from as small as .050 inch to over 2 inches in diameter, with lengths up to 3 inches
  • Tubes – seamless, isostatically pressed tubes from 1/4-inch to 2 inches in diameter, in lengths of 3 inches and up
  • Sheets – flat rolled porous metal sheets, available in a variety of standard sizes and thicknesses

Porous Metal Assemblies

We can engineer and build complete assemblies utilizing our sintered porous metal media. This may require any number of post-sintering process steps such as shaping, machining, laser cutting, or stamping of the media into a specific shape, press fitting or welding the media into a device, or the addition of some other hardware such as welding the media into a machined fitting.

Post-handling of the porous media is similar to that of the base metal and, as such, the number of available configurations and end products is only limited by the number of applications investigated.
